ALPINE DWELLER AND THE UNMADE PATHS
The Viennese ensemble has dedicated itself to imaginary folk music from a dreamy mountain country. Indie and chamber music nestle together so seamlessly that there are no discernible breaks. They quietly yet insistently create a very special atmosphere that stays with you. Mountain dwellers have always made sure that small signposts help their kind not to stray from the path. But they are often only recognisable to the initiated, signs carved into trees, sometimes splashes of colour or the famous cairns – you have to know where they are to see them. It’s easy to get lost in alpine terrain. Pay attention to the little things, the nuances, there are harmonious shifts, ingenious and surprising twists on the conventional, and in Alpine Dweller you can always sense a play of possibilities, doors that open, friendly invitations to take a different path. / Helmut Jasbar (Ö1)
